Sarah will be introducing you to the beautiful and releasing yoga style of Forrest Yoga. I love Sarah’s teaching and I hope you do too!
ABOUT SARAH & YOGA
Sarah has been a movement practitioner and creative writer since childhood. She holds over 500 hours of Yoga qualifications, a BA in Creative Writing and a DPhil in Urban Literature.
In yoga, she weaves together dynamic dance-like asanas, deliberate breath-work and inward-focused attention with contemporary considerations of traditional yogic principles, to break our bodies open into telling the story of who we truly are. She shares this practice in the belief that by giving the body space and time to express itself in a vibrant, intentional and thoughtful way, yogis can begin to piece together their own stories of self-discovery, self-healing and deeper connection to others, to nature and to something beyond themselves. She loves the potential for creativity, devotion and therapy that yoga offers, blending styles such as Forrest Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Jivamukti Yoga, and Katonah Yoga. Having discovered yoga over 10 years ago, at a time when her body, mind and spirit yearned for healing, Sarah embraces yoga today as a path of service. She wishes nothing more but for people to find their own body-language, and in that journey, for all of us to find a way to move in this world from a place that is ever more compassionate, resilient and loving.
ABOUT THE CLASS
During this hour long practice, you will be invited to move and breathe using the powerful sequencing and deliberate breath-work known to Forrest Yoga. This practice, known for slower-paced vinyasas and internally-focused cues, cultivates body and emotional awareness in such a way that it creates a powerful opportunity to heal our physical and mental blockages. The class will start with setting an intent, and will then weave pranayama and asana targeting what Sarah likes to call ‘the ailments of modern life’: hips, back, shoulders and core. This practice will leave you feeling more spacious in mind and body; more connected to your truth and your spirit.
This is an open level class. Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. The practice, whose creatrix is Ana Forrest, is founded on four pillars — Breath, Strength, Integrity and Spirit.
As always, the class is inclusive and accessible.
PLEASE NOTE: For insurance reasons, only those who actually attend the class will have access to the recordings for these sessions, so please do attend live if you’d like to experience the class.
